Title
A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development perform a traffic study to determine the feasibility of the installation of a signal light at the intersection of Airline Highway (LA 61) and East Harding Street, New Sarpy and further request the installation of a signal light if study determines light is warranted.
Body
WHEREAS, the local governing authority has repeatedly made requests to the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development asking that a signal light be installed at this busy intersection; and,
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 3538 was adopted on November 5, 1990 requesting local Senators and Representatives to support the members of the St. Charles Parish Council in their request for the installation of a signal light at US/LA 61 and East Harding Street; and,
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 5178 was adopted on April 19, 2004 requesting the Department of Transportation & Development perform a traffic study to determine the feasibility of the installation of a signal light at the intersection of LA 61 and East Harding Street; and,
WHEREAS, on January 5, 2007, the Parish President requested that the Department of Transportation & Development install a signal light at the intersection of East Harding Street and US 61 due to another tragic accident which occurred at said intersection claiming the lives of two St. Charles Parish residents; and,
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 6404 was adopted on May 6, 2019 requesting that the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development install a "traffic light" at the intersection of Airline Highway and East Harding Street; and,
WHEREAS, East Harding Street is the primary means of traveling to Airline Highway for residents of New Sarpy traveling to and from their jobs; and,
