Title
A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development install a signal light at the intersection of Airline Highway (LA 61) and St. Rose Avenue (LA 626), St. Rose.
Body
WHEREAS, new development in the St. Rose area has increased traffic; and,
WHEREAS, more new development is planned, approved and should be a reality in the next year and will further compound existing traffic conditions; and,
WHEREAS, during peak traffic periods and vehicles traveling at high rates of speed make it dangerous for vehicles turning west onto Airline Highway; and,
WHEREAS, over the years the Parish Council has adopted resolutions supporting a signal light at this intersection due to the hazardous conditions; and,
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development has a responsibility to protect the citizens from hazardous driving conditions by removing or reducing the potential for accidents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL do hereby request that the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development install a signal light at the intersection of Airline Highway (LA 61) and St. Rose Avenue (LA 626), St. Rose.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Governor Mike Foster, Department of Transportation & Development Secretary Dr. Kam Movassaghi, Senator Joel T. Chaisson, II, Representative Gary L. Smith, and Representative Glenn B. Ansardi asking their assistance in this regard.
