Title
A resolution authorizing the Chairman or the Secretary to offer a strong objection to U. S. Corps of Engineers #EM-20-020-0969; Department of Environmental Quality #WQC-010627-05; Department of Natural Resources #CUP-P20011061, and to St. Charles International Airport requested by Monteleone Interests, LLC for a permit to dredge, fill, and construct levees, pumps, water control structures and other structures and facilities needed to support the construction of a ±7,943 acre airport development, part of which is in the LaBranche Wetlands, St. Charles Parish, Louisiana.
Body
WHEREAS, the proposed project will destroy approximately 8000 acres of cypress swamp one of the largest in the country and severely impact seafood production; and,
WHEREAS, it will affect the quality of life of the whole Eastbank of St. Charles Parish, population of which is nearing 25,000 people; and,
WHEREAS, it will disrupt the drainage plans implemented by the Parish all these years and the Corps projects of the Eastbank Levee System; and,
WHEREAS, this project will impact all of the St. Rose Industrial Parks including T. L. James Business Park resulting in a revenue impact of $2.5 million; and,
WHEREAS, relocation program of I-310 and the Canadian Illinois Central Railroad will disrupt the traffic in and out of the Parish for years to come; and,
WHEREAS, the Coastal Zone Management Committee has forwarded a unanimous recommendation of Objection to this Project.
BE IT RESOLVED by the St. Charles Parish Council acting as the Governing Authority of the Parish:
SECTION I. That the Chairman or the Secretary be and is hereby authorized to offer a strong objection in connection with the application of
