P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, President Richard Nixon established National Volunteer Week with an executive order in 1974 and every sitting U.S. President since, has issued a proclamation during National Volunteer Week, as have many U.S. Mayors and Governors, urging Americans to give their time to community outreach organizations; and,
WHEREAS, volunteerism is an enormous part of making progress in strengthening communities across America; and,
WHEREAS, Volunteer Week is an opportunity to recognize and thank volunteers who lend their time, talent, voice, and support to causes in their community and to celebrate the impact of change-makers in the community and inspire others to serve.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF APRIL 30 - MAY 6, 2017, AS
“VOLUNTEER WEEK”
IN ST. CHARLES PARISH AND URGE ALL CITIZENS TO VOLUNTEER AND PUT THEIR HEARTS INTO VOLUNTEERISM IN THEIR COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
