RESOLUTION NO. ___________
Title
A resolution authorizing the Parish President to seek funding in the form of grants and/or loans for the purpose of a new Wastewater Treatment Pond in the Paradis area.
Body
WHEREAS, the Hahnville Wastewater Treatment Plant is at capacity and can no longer accept any additional wastewater on the West Bank of St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, without additional wastewater treatment capacity on the West Bank of St. Charles Parish, no building permits would be able to be issued for developments in those areas where wastewater would be pumped to the Hahnville Treatment Plant; and,
WHEREAS, a new Wastewater Treatment Pond can be built in the Paradis area which would discharge into the wetlands to enhance growth of the coastal area, reduce operational costs and allow continued growth on the West Bank of St. Charles Parish.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, that the St. Charles Parish Council hereby recommends the Parish President meet with the Federal Congressional Delegation and the State Delegation along with other Federal and State agencies to seek grants and/or low interest loans for the funding of a new Wastewater Treatment Pond in the Paradis area.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Parish President is hereby authorized to sign any pre-application documents for grants and/or low interest loans in conjunction with said project.
