IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, LaRon Landry's hometown is Ama, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish. His parents are Frank and Rhonda Landry, and his two brothers are Dawan and Derick, and is the proud father of daughter Trinity; and,
WHEREAS, LaRon is a 2003 graduate of Hahnville High School and attended Louisiana State University majoring in Communications Studies; and,
WHEREAS, at LSU, LaRon played in 52 games starting 48 times, and is credited with 315 career tackles, which ranks him seventh-highest total in the school's history; 12 interceptions, ties him for the third-highest total; 40 career defended passes ranks him second-highest total, and 8 sacks; and he capped his career with at least one tackle in 51 straight games; and,
WHEREAS, LaRon is one of only two players in LSU's history to lead the Tigers in tackles three times during his career; as a freshman in 2003, in 2004, and again in 2006; and,
WHEREAS, LaRon is one of the most decorated defensive backs in LSU history, earning First-Team All-America honors in 2006 and Third-Team All-America recognition in 2005, a two-time First-Team All-SEC selection in 2005 and 2006, and was selected to play in the 2007 Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama; and,
WHEREAS, in 2007 LaRon joined the NFL and was drafted by the Washington Redskins with the 6th overall pick in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
