Title
An ordinance to amend the Code to adjust the Service Charge for Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Services.
Body
WHEREAS, effective March 1, 1996, the Parish began paying disposal fees directly to the landfill; and,
WHEREAS, the disposal fees have continued to exceed the service charges collected to cover said expenses; and,
WHEREAS, the solid waste fund is projected to have a $146,000.00 deficit at the end of 1999; and,
WHEREAS, the Solid Waste program was established as a self supporting program, funded exclusively by user service charges; and,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Parish Council to adjust the Service Charge to cover actual expenses; and,
WHEREAS, the monthly service charge will increase effective February 1, 2000, from $9.26 per month ($5.49 Collection; $3.43 Disposal; $.24 Administrative; $.10 Billing Fee) to $11.43 per month ($5.49 Collection; $5.60 Disposal; $.24 Administrative; $.10 Billing Fee).
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That Chapter 10, Article II, Section 10-22 (a) is hereby amended to read as follows:
(a.) Levied: That a monthly Service Charge of eleven dollars and thirty-three cents ($11.33) per month is hereby established and levied for each Residential Unit and Commercial Unit within the Parish of St. Charles as defined in the Parish's current Solid Waste Collection Program, effective February 1, 2000.
SECTION II. That the total monthly Service Charge to each unit shall be $11.43 per month (including the $.10 per month billing fee).

The foregoing ordinance having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
