IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Ms. Lori Lyons, is a resident of St. Charles Parish, residing in Norco, Louisiana with her husband Marty Luquet. They are the proud parents of son Daniel, and daughters Courtney, and Lora Leigh; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Lyons received her Bachelor’s Degree from Loyola University, where she studied journalism; and,
WHEREAS, over approximately three decades, Ms. Lyons had the privilege of covering River Parish athletics, and for more than 20 years she covered the prep sports beat for the Times Picayune; the first full-time female sportswriter in the newspaper’s history, starting as an agate clerk, to becoming a writer; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Lyons covered sports and news for a variety of publications including the New Orleans Advocate, Sportsnola.com, the L’Observateur, and the St. Charles Herald-Guide for a total of 30 years; and,
WHEREAS, over the years Ms. Lyons has covered some of the greatest athletes in the region’s history, such as LaRon and Dawan Landry of Hahnville, and Ed Reed, and Kirk Merritt of Destrehan; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Lyons, the longtime journalist, was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame where the Louisiana Sports Writers Association has honored her with the 2022 Distinguished Service Award in Sports Journalism.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, WE THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this recognition to
