Title
An ordinance to amend the O-L, Open Land Zoning District, to allow Fire Stations and firefighter training facilities as a Special Permit Use.
Body
WHEREAS, Fire stations are permitted in R-1A, R-1A(M), and R-1B residential districts as a Special Exception; and,
WHEREAS, a fire station is an appropriate use in the O-L zoning district; and,
WHEREAS, Firefighter training facilities are not permitted in any zoning district, but are an important use of land for any jurisdiction; and,
WHEREAS, Firefighter training facilities are suited to sparsely populated areas like we see in O-L zoning districts; and,
WHEREAS, Firefighter training facilities should only be permitted after an opportunity for public comment.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the St. Charles Parish Code, Appendix A, Zoning Ordinance, Section VI. A.[I].1.c. hereby amended to add the following:
(9) Fire stations with or without firefighter training facilities.
