Proclamation: "Census Day in St. Charles Parish"

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, the 1990 Census missed approximately 1.2 percent of all rural residents; and,
WHEREAS, Billions of dollars in Federal and State funding are distributed based on census data; and,
WHEREAS, The Census Bureau cannot share the individual answers it receives with others, including welfare agencies, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the Internal Revenue Service, courts, police and the military; and,
WHEREAS, the law works - millions of questionnaires were processed during the 1990's without any breach of trust; and,
WHEREAS, a complete population count is extremely important to everyone in St. Charles Parish.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM APRIL 1, 2000, AS
"CENSUS DAY IN ST. CHARLES PARISH"
AND URGE ALL RESIDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN CENSUS 2000.
