Proclamation: Trash Bash Cleanup and Wetland Watchers Park Grand Opening Day

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish has long been recognized for its natural and rural beauty; and,
WHEREAS, Parish Leaders and Residents share a strong desire to protect our environment, beginning at home; and,
WHEREAS, litter is increasingly becoming a detriment to the quality of life we enjoy in St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, we realize the need to come together to beautify our streets and byways in an effort to create our ideal community; and,
WHEREAS, residents and business owners are encouraged to beautify their own properties to make our Parish a more welcoming place; and,
WHEREAS, our Parish's plentiful wetlands are a special part of this area's history, culture, and natural environment; and,
WHEREAS, a new recreational park in Norco celebrates the wetlands with an outdoor classroom, nature trail, and fishing pier; and,
WHEREAS, local residents, industry volunteers, parish and state government, and the Harry Hurst Wetland Watchers Service Learning Organization have come together to build this new attraction; and,
WHEREAS, Wetland Watchers Park has been completed in its first phase and all are welcome to enjoy its amenities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby declare Saturday, October 2, 2010, AS
TRASH BASH CLEANUP
AND
WETLAND WATCHERS PARK GRAND OPENING DAY
in St. Charles Parish.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the public is invited to help clean up St. Charles Parish beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending with a celebration at Wetland Watchers Park, located directly to the east of the Bonnet Carre Spillway at Lake Pontchartrain, from Noon - 3:00 p.m. All are invited to listen to a performance by Amanda Shaw, enjoy great food, and appreciate our Parish's natural beauty.
