Title
An ordinance to approve and authorize the execution of a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the Pontchartrain Levee District for the East LaBranche Shoreline Protection Project and the West LaBranche Shoreline Protection Project both to be funded by the Coastal Impact Assistance Program (CIAP).
Body
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish is undertaking two major shoreline protection projects, the East LaBranche Shoreline Protection Project and the West LaBranche Shoreline Protection Project; and,
WHEREAS, both projects are funded by the Federal Coastal Impact Assistance Program (CIAP); and,
WHEREAS, the Pontchartrain Levee District is the major landowner of the adjacent land to the project; and,
WHEREAS, the Pontchartrain Levee District and St. Charles Parish realize the important role of shoreline protection in the long term maintenance of the “Lake Pontchartrain and Vicinity Hurricane Protection Levee”; and,
WHEREAS, the Pontchartrain Levee District and St. Charles Parish wish to minimized the duplication of efforts and maximize the use of available resources.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the Coastal Impact Assistance Program Lake Pontchartrain Shoreline Protection Cooperative Endeavor Agreement between The Pontchartrain Levee District and St. Charles Parish is hereby approved.
SECTION II. That the Parish President is hereby authorized to execute said Cooperative Endeavor Agreement on behalf of St. Charles Parish.

The forgoing ordinance having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
And the ordinance was declared adopted this day of , 2008, to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
