Title
A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development install signal lights at LA 306 and Highway 90, LA 632 and Highway 90, and Highway 90 and Tiger Drive.
Body
WHEREAS, new development in Des Allemands has increased construction traffic in the Des Allemands area; and,
WHEREAS, due to the increase in vehicular traffic in this area, it is necessary for the State of Louisiana to install signal lights at LA 306 and Highway 90, LA 632 and Highway 90, and Highway 90 and Tiger Drive; and,
WHEREAS, in 1997, the Department of Transportation and Development advised the District IV Councilman that growth was not significant enough to warrant the installation of signal lights at the aforementioned locations; and,
WHEREAS, since that time a local developer has constructed Bayou Estates Subdivision, Bayou Estates South Subdivision, and Shamrock Park II Subdivision; and,
WHEREAS, Texaco has recently agreed to sell land to St. Charles Parish for the development of a Public Boat Launch in Des Allemands; and,
WHEREAS, another 120+ lot subdivision is proposed for construction in Year 2000 by a local developer; and,
WHEREAS, the Allemands School is making additions to existing facilities to accommodate growth in the area; and,
WHEREAS, numerous businesses and facilities have and continue to move into and around the Paradis/Des Allemands area requiring traffic control devices; and,
WHEREAS, during the October 1999 election primary, this issue was brought to the attention of all candidates as a "major concern" of the citizens of this area, that this be implemented as quickly as possible; and,
WHEREAS, numerous resolutions on a local level and on a State level through the Police Jury Association have been approved and forwarded to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development for consideration without favorable results; an...
