Title
A resolution to approve and authorize the execution of appropriate documentation with the State of Louisiana, Office of the Lieutenant Governor and BP Exploration & Production, Inc., to provide funding in the amount of $59,744.06 to St. Charles Parish through the Tourism Recovery Program.
Body
WHEREAS, on or about April 20, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon mobile offshore drilling unit experienced an explosion, fire, and subsequently sank in the Gulf of Mexico resulting in the release of oil into the Gulf of Mexico and response actions; and,
WHEREAS, on November 18, 2010, an agreement was reached with BP Exploration & Production, Inc. (BP) and the State of Louisiana, acting through the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor; and,
WHEREAS, in said agreement BP agreed to fund a $30 million Tourism Recovery Program; and,
WHEREAS, the State has prepared appropriate documentation to provide funding from the Tourism Recovery Program in the amount of $59,744.06 to St. Charles Parish for a project to promote tourism and it is the desire of the Parish Council to approve and authorize the execution of said documentation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby approve and authorize the execution of appropriate documentation with the State of Louisiana, Office of the Lieutenant Governor and BP Exploration & Production, Inc., to provide funding in the amount of $59,744.06 to St. Charles Parish through the Tourism Recovery Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Parish President is hereby authorized to execute said documentation and to act on behalf of St. Charles Parish in all matters pertaining to the Tourism Recovery Program.
