Title
A resolution requesting a study be conducted of the Pest Problems in Ormond Country Clubs dedicated drainage pond areas and back yards of residents and all other parish residential communities where pest problems persist due to the multiplication of nutria.
Body
Whereas, The Sheriff and the Parish Administration will consult with Jefferson and other Parishes where this is a constant problem and introduce a program to eliminate the pest problem; and,
WHEREAS, The Sheriff and the Parish Administration will consult with State Agencies including Wildlife & Fisheries, DAR and Department of Health & Human Services to mitigate and reduce the population of nutria in residential communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby request that the Sheriff and the Parish Administration study the Pest Problems in Ormond Country Clubs dedicated drainage pond areas and back yards of residents and all other parish residential communities where pest problems persist due to the multiplication of nutria and make recommendations on the following to the Parish Council at the August 1, 2005 Parish Council Meeting:
1. Uncontrollable multiplication of nutria and the attending soil erosion in the Parish.
2. Health related problems that can occur to children.
3. Carrier of infectious disease such as West Nile Virus and Encephalitis.
4. Introduce a planned program to address the reduction of nutria and any special needs or permission of the Parish Council to implement the recommendations.
