Title
An ordinance of the Parish of St. Charles, providing that the Code of Ordinances, Parish of St. Charles be amended by revising Section 17-2 Parks and Recreation, Hours of operation.
Body
WHEREAS, Parish sponsored youth sports events sometimes take place on a Sunday morning; and,
WHEREAS, not all Churches offer an alternate time for Church services such as Saturday evening or Sunday evening in lieu of Sunday morning services; and,
WHEREAS, youths participating in these sporting events are at a disadvantage if their Church does not offer an alternate service time.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That Section 17, Parks and Recreation, of the Code of Ordinances Parish of St. Charles be amended so that such section shall read as follows:
Section 17-2. Hours of operation.
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to enter or be on or use any facilities in any public park within the Parish from the hours of 10:00 p.m. through 5:00 a.m. each day of the week, or when the park is fenced, or locked and, therefore, temporarily closed to the public. Any person may apply to the Department of Parks and Recreation for a permit authorizing usage of any park or recreational facility within the Parish for certain specified hours which may allow the permittee to use the facilities during the hours prohibited above.
(b) It shall be unlawful for any Parish organized team sport event to begin, resume, or occur in any public park within the Parish on Sundays from the hours of 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby provide that the Code of Ordinances, Parish of St. Charles, be amended by revising Section 17-2 Parks and Recreation, Hours of operation.
