Title
An ordinance to approve and authorize the execution of a Contract for Engineering Services with BURK-KLEINPETER, INC. for necessary professional engineering services associated with Parish Project No. P080905 St. Charles Parish West Bank Hurricane Protection Levee and Urban Flood Control.
Body
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council desires to have the following described project undertaken:
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Engineering services for Parish Project No. P080905 St. Charles Parish West Bank Hurricane Protection Levee and Urban Flood Control. The service will include but will not be limited to serving as Owner's professional engineering representative for the Project, providing professional engineering consultation and advice, and furnishing customary civil geotechnical, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering services and construction engineering and inspection; and,
WHEREAS, This project will address major flooding concerns on the west bank of St. Charles Parish in a phased, coordinated, and comprehensive manner. The project will be managed to maximize the benefit to St. Charles Parish with respect to the proposed Donaldsonville to the Gulf of Mexico Hurricane Levee Project now under consideration by the USACE; and,
WHEREAS, because of the complexity of the project, it will be implemented in the following phases so as to better control project timing and cost:
PHASE 1 - Magnolia Ridge Levee
PHASE 2 - Willow Ridge Levee
PHASE 3 - Ellington Levee
PHASE 4 - Tidal Surge Protection in Des Allemands, South
PHASE 5 - Tidal Surge Protection in Des Allemands, North
PHASE 6 - St. Charles Urban Storm Water Study continuation - West Bank Recon and Feasibility studies.
