Title
A resolution requesting the Louisiana Attorney General to provide its opinion on the legal mechanisms available to the Parish of St. Charles, which it can use to recover its cost from the owner of a sunken vessel, for removing such a vessel in accordance with provision provided for in Revised Statute 34:843.
Body
WHEREAS, the State of Louisiana has passed Louisiana Revised Statute 34:843 which gives the local governing authority the ability to address abandoned vessels in waterways.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby request the Louisiana Attorney General to provide its opinion on the legal mechanisms available to the Parish of St. Charles, which it can use to recover its cost from the owner of a sunken vessel, for removing such a vessel in accordance with provision provided for in Revised Statute 34:843.
