IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Kristen Rene Latour is a resident of St. Rose, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish. Her parents are Wayne Latour and Susie Latour, and her sister is Aimee; and,
WHEREAS, Kristen is currently a Freshman at Destrehan High School where she plans to succeed in obtaining the Taylor Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) Scholarship Award and graduate with honors in 2015; and,
WHEREAS, Kristen was nominated for Student of the Year, received Student of the Month, and received first place in her School's Social Studies Fair. In seventh grade, she received an award from Duke University for an outstanding award on the ACT. She was chosen for Parish and District Honor Choir for the past three years, participated in Wetland Watchers, volunteered at Petsmart during the holidays for abandoned animals, and every summer she volunteers at St. Mathew's Vacation Bible School; and,
WHEREAS, after graduating High School, Kristen hopes to attend Louisiana State University and pursue her dream of being a neural surgeon; and,
WHEREAS, Kristen enjoys dancing, swimming, singing, playing the piano, learning to play the guitar, riding four wheelers, texting her friends, and spending time with her older sister; and,
WHEREAS, on Saturday, August 6, 2011, Kristen was crowned the 16th Teen Queen at the 53rd Annual St. Charles Parish Festival Pageant held at Destrehan High School, and she also received the sweetness award and the fashion award; and,
WHEREAS, Kristen describes herself as being spontaneous, musical, and kind.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
