IN RECOGNITION

WHEREAS, Ajantha Ramachandran is a resident of St. Charles Parish residing in Destrehan, Louisiana with her parents Councilman 'Ram' and Susan Ramachandran; and,
WHEREAS, Ajantha is a 12 year old 7th grade honor student at Harry Hurst Middle School in Destrehan; and,
WHEREAS, Ajantha has participated and won numerous awards over the past years, among them: best gardener for 4-H, second place in the Farm Bureau dance competition, and student of the month at summer camp; and,
WHEREAS, Ajantha has placed second in Science and Social Studies Fairs and the overall winner in the Science Fair at Ethel Schoffner Elementary. She is in the Honor Band and Choir, a member of the Beta Club and has been tutoring kindergarten students at New Sarpy. The last two years, Ajantha has attended summer camp in Lake Charles which is the Governor's Program for Gifted Children; and,
WHEREAS, Ajantha keeps extra busy with numerous extra curricular activities such as “Think Quest” and “Destination Imagination” for which her team won the State Competition at the University of Louisiana in Monroe. She has also been invited to attend the National Junior Leaders Conference for the years 2002 and 2003; and,
WHEREAS, in her most recent achievement, Ajantha has placed first in St. Charles Parish for the Young Authors Contest for a non-fiction short story titled “Travel to Washington State” and will receive an award for placing third in the State for her essay on “Americanism”.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
AJANTHA RAMACHANDRAN
