Title
An ordinance to approve and authorize the execution of a Construction Contract with Sealevel Construction, Inc. for Project No. P990604-1, Coronado Park Pump Station #2 Drainage Improvement Project in the amount of $737,701.40.
Body
WHEREAS, sealed bids were received by St. Charles Parish on June 2, 2011 for Project No. P990604-1, Coronado Park Pump Station #2 Drainage Improvement Project; and,
WHEREAS, Buchart Horn, Inc., Jacob Loeske, P.E., the Engineer for the Project, has reviewed the bids and recommend that the Contract be awarded to the low bidder, Sealevel Construction, Inc. in the amount of $737,701.40; and,
WHEREAS, the capacity of the existing Coronado Park Pump Station #2 is undersized for the drainage requirements in the Coronado Park Area served by the Pump Station; and the drainage conveyance to the inlet of the Pump Station is inadequate to handle the quantity of rain runoff experienced in the area; and power outages have been experienced which cause loss of pumping capacity at the existing Pump Station. Increased Pump Station capacity and improved drainage conveyance and will improve the capability of the Drainage system to remove rainwater from the area and reduce risk of flooding to houses in the Coronado Park area. Installation of a stand-by Generator will provide back-up power to the Pump Station in the event the Utility Power is not available, thus maintaining the Pumping Capacity of the Pump Station during time of rainfall and storm conditions.
WHEREAS, the construction costs for this project will be funded under the Roads and Drainage Fund #112 in the amount of $737,701.40.
