Proclamation: National Adoption Awareness Month

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, America's greatest strength resides in its families; America has at least five million families formed by or touched by adoption; and,
WHEREAS, these families include children who were adopted as infants, adopted at older ages, adopted across lines of culture and race, member of sibling groups, and adopted notwithstanding the fact that they were physically or mentally challenged; and,
WHEREAS, through adoption, all these children came to know the benefits of the permanence that is central to a sound home life provided by a loving family; and,
WHEREAS, society has benefited from the loving care and attention provided to children in adoptive families in that these children develop into some of our most productive and responsible citizens; and,
WHEREAS, we should especially recognize the parents and fine adoption agencies which have brought so many children into new and loving homes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER 2004 AS
"NATIONAL ADOPTION AWARENESS MONTH"
IN ST. CHARLES PARISH.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT WE ENCOURAGE ALL CITIZENS TO TAKE NOTE OF THE FINE PROGRAMS THAT ARE DEDICATED TO MEETING THE NEEDS AND INTEREST OF CHILDREN THROUGH ADOPTION.
