IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Tatum Dugas is a resident of St. Charles Parish residing in Luling, Louisiana. She is the daughter of Danielle and Garrett Dugas, and has a younger brother named Wyatt; and,
WHEREAS, Tatum is a 2020 graduate of Hahnville High School and currently attends Louisiana State University majoring in Pre-Med; and,
WHEREAS, Tatum is a Girl Scout Ambassador with Luling Troop 21346, where her grandmother, Linda Dugas has served as her Troop Leader for 13 years. She received the Gold Award in 2020 for her project, "You, Me & Gluten Free: The Game Plan", a cookbook inspired by a friend of hers who was diagnosed with Celiac Disease; and,
WHEREAS, Tatum is one of four local Girl Scouts who have recently earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor a Senior or Ambassador can achieve; and,
WHEREAS, the Girl Scout Gold Award inspires girls to find the greatness inside themselves and share their ideas and passions with their communities. It requires the completion of a combination of several leadership journeys, which involve activities allowing the Girl Scout to discover herself and her values, team with others, and take action in the community. Upon completion of these requirements, she must plan and execute a community service project that reaches beyond the Girl Scout organization and provides a sustainable, lasting benefit to the community; and,
WHEREAS, Tatum spent a minimum of 80 hours developing a recipe book with simple gluten free recipes with a quick guide to gluten free grocery store brands and restaurant chains with gluten free options. She hosted a seminar where she provided an informative presentation on gluten allergies and provided a cookbook to attendees in an effort to educate the members of her community on gluten allergies and how to live with or become advocates for affected individuals; and,
