TRIBUTE
District I, Councilman Desmond J. Hilaire is a lifelong resident of St. Charles Parish and currently resides in Hahnville. He is the proud son of Mr. and Mrs. Bertrand and Slata Mae Hilaire; is married to Gail Campbell Hilaire, and is the proud father of Xavier James Hilaire, stepfather to LaTonya and Carnell James, Jr.
Councilman Hilaire is completing his second term in Office. He was first elected to the Parish Council in 1999 as the District I Councilman and was re-elected to a second term in 2003. He attended St. Charles Parish public schools, is a 1985 graduate of West St. John Senior High, and is a 1988 graduate of First Professional Real Estate School. He attended the University of Phoenix, New Orleans campus to pursue a degree in Business Management.
Councilman Hilaire is currently employed as a Mortgage Consultant with First National Bank U.S.A., LaPlace Branch and is a Parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville.
Councilman Hilaire is President and Founder of Save the Children Organization of St. Charles Parish. He served as a mentor for the St. Charles Parish Public Schools; is a former member of the St. Charles Parish Community Advisory Panel; and is a member of the St. Charles Parish Grand United Order of Odd Fellows.
In 1999, Councilman Hilaire was selected to serve as Grand Marshall of the Martin Luther King Commemorative Celebration in St. Charles Parish. On September 27, 2003, he was given the "Share The Dreamer's Dream Award" in appreciation for his unwavering support to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Organization at the St. Charles Parish Annual Scholarship Banquet.
