Title
An ordinance to request that the Parish President move forward with the unfilled Department of Community Services Director position for St. Charles Parish.
Body
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Home Rule Charter provides for Parish Council approval of these positions; and,
WHEREAS, to date the Community Services Department has been without a Director; and,
WHEREAS, since the spirit of the St. Charles Parish Home Rule Charter is to have a person confirmed within a reasonable time; and,
WHEREAS, a reasonable time shall be defined as no longer than three months; and,
WHEREAS, the Parish President has had nine (9) months, which is more than ample time, to bring forth a nominee; and,
WHEREAS, the Acting Director is signing as Director without confirmation which is against the St. Charles Parish Home Rule Charter and is listed in the employee payroll as Director; all of which is against the Charter.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the Parish President submit a nominee within two (2) weeks from October 9, 2000.
SECTION II. That if a nominee is not submitted for Director of the Department of Community Services, then the Parish Council will place a name for nomination to be voted upon by the Council.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby request that the Parish President move forward with the unfilled Department of Community Services Director position for St. Charles Parish.

And the ordinance was declared adopted this day of , 2000, to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
