Proclamation: "Jeffery Allen Willett Benefit Day"

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, Jeffery Allen Willett is a resident of St. Charles Parish residing in Luling, Louisiana with his wife Joy Ervin Willett. They are the proud parents of daughters, Heather married to Stephen James, and Christie married to Kim Kinchen, and four grandsons, Stephen II, Jaden, Hudson, and Kolsen; and,
WHEREAS, Jeffery worked for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development for over 20 years, officially retiring September 18, 2022; and,
WHEREAS, Jeffery's love for music and entertainment started while he was in high school. He provided DJ services and over the last forty years, performed with several local bands at festivals, parties, night clubs, church fairs, Mardi Gras balls, 4th of July celebrations at Zephyr Stadium, and many other events; and,
WHEREAS, throughout the past forty years, Jeffery was a member of Rolling 50's, Tough Guys, 50's Plus, Local Option, Local Option 2, Fender Benders, Entourage, and Bad Habit. He and his bandmates have provided many years of entertainment to the people of St. Charles Parish, surrounding parishes, and the Greater New Orleans area; and,
WHEREAS, efforts are being made to have Jeffery inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame, where musicians are honored for their contributions to the state of Louisiana; and,
WHEREAS, on July 7, 2022, Jeffery was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a progressive nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain, and spinal cord, causing loss of muscle control; and,
WHEREAS, on Sunday, October 2, 2022, from 12-8 pm, on the grounds of Destrehan Plantation, 13034 River Road in Destrehan, Jeffery's family and friends will host an outdoor music festival benefit, "Jeff Rocks Back the Clock" to share and show love to Jeffery.
