RESOLUTION NO. 6496
Title
A resolution adopting the revised St. Charles Parish Section 504 and ADA Grievance Procedures providing for prompt and equitable resolution of complaints alleging any action prohibited by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended or the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA).
Body
WHEREAS, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended provides that no otherwise qualified individual with a disability in the United States, as defined in section 7(20), shall solely by reason of her or his disability, be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance; and,
WHEREAS, the Americans with Disabilities Act prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in such critical areas as employment, housing, public accommodations, education, transportation, communication, recreation, institutionalization, health services, voting and access to public services; and,
WHEREAS, the Parish did revise the St. Charles Parish ADA Grievance Procedure established in 1995 to address any complaints that may arise alleging any action prohibited by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended or the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA); and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Section 504 and ADA Grievance Procedures designates the Personnel Officer to coordinate efforts by the Parish to comply with the requirements of Section 504 and the ADA.
