Title
A resolution asking the U. S. Postal Service to open a Post Office in the Town of Montz, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish.
Body
WHEREAS, the Postal Service for the Town of Montz, LA located in St. Charles Parish, is presently served out of the LaPlace, LA Post Office located in St. John the Baptist Parish; and,
WHEREAS, the location of the LaPlace Post Office presents a hardship for many of our travel challenged citizens who have to travel two major highways in order to reach the LaPlace Post Office; and,
WHEREAS, receiving mail from one Parish and living in another Parish does from time to time cause confusion; and,
WHEREAS, the Town of Montz has had considerable growth over the last 10 years with a population of over 1,400 residents covering 397.5 sq. miles, showing the necessity of a Post Office to service this fast growing area.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby ask the U. S. Postal Service to open a Post Office in the Town of Montz, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLEVED, that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to Senator Mary Landrieu, Senator David Vitter, Representative Charlie Melancon, Senator Joel T. Chaisson, II, Representative Gary L. Smith, Jr., Representative Ernest D. Wooton, and the U. S. Postal Service Administrative Division requesting their support in this endeavor.
