Title
A resolution requesting that the Parish President take the necessary steps needed to have all sunken vessels located within Bayou Gauche and the portion of Bayou Des Allemands located within St. Charles Parish removed in accordance with the provisions provided for in Louisiana Revised Statute 34:843.
Body
WHEREAS, sunken vessels pose or have the potential of posing environmental issues, safety issues with respect to children who play on these sunken vessels, and impacts on our waterfront communities; and,
WHEREAS, sunken vessels are aesthetically unpleasing to our waterfront communities; and,
WHEREAS, boaters who live or travel near these sunken vessels have to deal with the hazards and potential future hazards relating to these sunken vessels; and,
WHEREAS, numerous requests have been made by residents asking that the Parish takes the steps needed to have all of the sunken vessels removed from these waterways; and,
WHEREAS, many residents feel that all sunken vessels should be addressed as part of a concerted effort to clean up our communities and waterways as requested by these residents; and,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Council that all sunken vessels be addressed in order to beautify and make safe our waterways and our communities; and,
WHEREAS, the Council requests that reimbursement of all cost associated with having these sunken vessels removed be sought by all means available to the Parish as allowed by State and or Parish law.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, request that the Parish President take the necessary steps needed to have all sunken vessels located within Bayou Gauche and the portion of Bayou Des Allemands located within St. Charles Parish removed in accordance with the provisions provided for in Louisiana Revised Statute 34:843.
