Title
A resolution to amend the Parish Council Rules by adding Rule 40. Use of Electronic Equipment during Parish Council Meetings or Committee Meetings.
Body
WHEREAS, we are blessed with technology, which should be embraced; and,
WHEREAS, technology such as cell phones, computers, and the internet has made communication simple and available from almost any location; and,
WHEREAS, not all residents have the opportunity to attend Meetings held by the Council; and,
WHEREAS, such technology allows for Councilmembers to communicate back and forth with such individuals that cannot attend these Council or Committee Meetings during the Meetings; and,
WHEREAS, this technology allows for our constituents to get hold of us at critical times during our Meetings; and,
WHEREAS, during its Meeting, the Council wishes to have an open line of communication using this technology with individuals that cannot attend the Meetings; and,
WHEREAS, this technology also allows the Council to perform other tasks during Meetings such as reading and responding to e-mails, which the Council wishes to have the ability to do, provided it pertains to some type of Parish business.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY RESOLVES TO AMEND THE COUNCIL RULES BY ADDING RULE 40. AS FOLLOWS:
Rule 40.
While official Parish Council Meetings or Committee Meetings are in progress, Councilmember's are allowed to read or send e-mails from computers or cellular phones while they are present in the Meeting, are allowed to send text messages via any electronic device, and are allowed to search the internet during the Meeting provided such activities pertain to some type of Parish business.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby amend the Parish Council Rules by adding Rule 40. Use of Electronic Equipment during Parish Council Meetings or Commit...
