Proclamation: "Child Abuse Prevention Month"

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, child abuse is one of the most pressing family health and social problems in society today; and,
WHEREAS, last year in the tri-parish area, there were over 500 investigations of child abuse and neglect; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Council for Prevention of Child Abuse is a parish-wide, non-profit, tax exempt organization. With a volunteer base the organization provides programs to prevent the abuse and neglect of children; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Council for Prevention of Child Abuse is taking leadership in the area of child abuse prevention by developing a parenting center through the efforts of volunteers and the support of private and corporate citizens; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Council for Prevention of Child Abuse with similar organizations across the country are observing the month of April 2000 as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM APRIL 2000 AS
CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH
