Title
An ordinance to amend the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 14 Injuring, Destroying, Defacing Parish Property, Section 14-5 (b) to increase the maximum fine from $100.00 to $500.00.
Body
WHEREAS,      the current Code of Ordinances provides a penalty of $100.00 for any person injuring, destroying, or defacing parish property; and,
WHEREAS,      in an effort to curtail the increased number of incidents occurring in our Parish it is the desire of the Parish Council to increase said penalty to a maximum of $500.00.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I.      That the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 14 Injuring, Destroying, Defacing Parish Property, Section 14-5 (b) is hereby amended to read as follows:
(b)      Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00) and/or imprisonment for a term not exceeding thirty (30) days or both.
