Title
An ordinance to amend the Code of Ordinances to revise Section 2-16.1 regarding acquisition and use of cellular phones.
Body
WHEREAS,      the current method of providing cellular phones to Parish employees and Elected Officials is cumbersome and not cost effective for the Finance Department to administer; and,
WHEREAS,      the allowance of a flat rate reimbursement for cellular phone expenses is an acceptable method of reimbursement allowed by the Internal Revenue Service; and,
WHEREAS,      it is the desire of the Parish Council to approve said amendment and authorize said reimbursement as an optional method of reimbursement.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I.      That the Code of Ordinances, Section 2-16.1 is hereby amended by adding (m) to read as follows:
(m)      In lieu of the Parish providing a cellular phone, any employee or Elected Official entitled to a cellular phone under this section may choose a monthly flat rate reimbursement in lieu of a Parish provided cellular phone. Said employee or elected official shall use a personally owned phone and reimbursement shall be made on a monthly basis in accordance with established Parish policy for Parish employees and Council Expense Regulations for elected members of the Parish Council.
