Proclamation: "National Health Center Week"

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, every summer, the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) sponsors the National Health Center Week to inform the American Public, State and Federal Policymakers, and the media about America's over 1,200 Community, Migrant, and Homeless Health Centers which serve as the "family doctor" for over 20 million people; and,
WHEREAS, National Health Center Week will highlight the commitment and passion of the tens of thousands of health center staff and board members who make it possible for Health Centers to be "health care homes" in over 7,500 communities; and,
WHEREAS, while the National Association of Community Health Centers manages the National campaign, the focus always remains on involving more people and more local communities; and,
WHEREAS, Community Health Centers across the country hosted events including health fairs, immunization screenings tied to back-to-school efforts, open houses, staff recognition events, and other special activities designed to highlight their centers and educate their Local and State Officials, community residents and leaders, and private industry about the service they provide; and,
WHEREAS, Community Health Centers are at the heart of a modern, reformed health care system in America.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF AUGUST 7, 2011 THROUGH AUGUST 13, 2011 AS
NATIONAL HEALTH CENTER WEEK
in St. Charles Parish.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that all citizens are urged to celebrate this week by visiting their local community health center, meeting local health center providers, and exploring the programs they offer to keep their families healthy.
