IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Shelbi Nichole Berthelot is a lifelong resident of St. Charles Parish residing in Luling, Louisiana with her parents Valarie and Darby Berthelot and her little sister Caison; and,
WHEREAS, Shelbi is a 2013 graduate of Hahnville High School where she was the recipient of the St. Charles Rotary Young Person of the Year and received the United Way Community Scholarship. She is currently a Sophomore at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond majoring in Biology with a Pre-Dental Concentration and minoring in Theater; she plans on continuing her education at LSU School of Dentistry; and,
WHEREAS, Shelbi's passion for volunteering and theater continue to lead her toward producing and directing projects for non-profits and individuals with special needs; and,
WHEREAS, Shelbi has produced and directed three projects with her Very Special Theater, two of these productions provided individuals with special needs an outlet to express themselves within a theatrical outlet - "A Very Special Cajun Night Before Christmas" and "Goodnight NOLA"; and,
WHEREAS, the third project Shelbi recently produced and directed with her Very Special Theater Production was "A Night of Hope", a fundraising event to raise money for life saving research for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; and,
WHEREAS, Shelbi in addition to raising over $2,500 as a member of the Team In Training program, she will be running a half marathon in January in Orlando, Florida; and,
WHEREAS, while Shelbi looks forward to entering the field of dentistry, her hopes are that her Very Special Theater productions are able to provide individuals the opportunity to believe a little more, dream a little harder and always find a way to bring hope and inspiration to others.
