IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, for the past five years, the Health Science Team Members from the St. Charles Parish Satellite Center have worked on a Breast Cancer Awareness Project called the "Pink Link" project, with the goal of educating the community as well as raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer Research; and,
WHEREAS, the Pink Link project is a friendly rivalry competition between Hahnville High School and Destrehan High School to see which side of the river can raise the most money for Breast Cancer Research by selling pink links of paper for $1.00 each; and,
WHEREAS, the pink links sold are linked together like a chain and brought out at halftime at the Battle On the River - DHS vs. HHS football game along the sidelines of each team and joined together in each end zone and the winner is then announced; and,
WHEREAS, the winner of this year's project is the East Bank - Destrehan High School selling a total of 9,151 links; the West Bank - Hahnville High School sold a total of 9,136 links, and together they raised a total of $18,287.00 to donate to the American Cancer Society showing that together St. Charles Parish will fight to help raise awareness for breast cancer; and,
WHEREAS, members of the St. Charles Parish Council and the Parish President wish to recognize the outstanding job of the Satellite Center Health Science Team Members and their Facilitators Ms. Denise Robichaux and Ms. Renee Labat, RN.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY RECOGNIZE
