Title
A resolution to request that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development designate Apple Street in Norco as a "No Hazardous Cargo" route.
Body
WHEREAS, Apple Street in Norco, which is a section of LA 48, is utilized by numerous trucks transporting Hazardous Cargo to nearby industrial facilities; and,
WHEREAS, since improvements have been made to accommodate oversize vehicles in the area of the industrial facilities along LA 48 in Norco, it is no longer necessary for said vehicles to travel down Apple Street; and,
WHEREAS, said vehicles can instead utilize Prospect Avenue, LA 627, to access local industrial facilities; and,
WHEREAS, Prospect Avenue (LA 627) is in an industrial area and more appropriate for the transportation of Hazardous Cargo; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby request that the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development designate Apple Street in Norco as a "No Hazardous Cargo" route and direct all hazardous cargo to use Prospect Avenue (LA 627).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to Senator Gary L. Smith, Jr., and Representative Gregory A. Miller.
