Title
A resolution to approve and authorize the execution of a Contract between the State of Louisiana Division of Administration and St. Charles Parish for funding of the West Bank A Plant Clarifier Refurbishment in Luling through the Louisiana Office of Community Development's FY 2014-2015 Community Water Enrichment Fund, CWEF File #1415-CWEF-STC-0001.
Body
WHEREAS, in the 2014 Regular Legislative Session, House Bill 2 included $9.3 million for a Community Water Enrichment Fund (CWEF) for local governments; and,
WHEREAS, the amount available to each eligible parish will be $135,317.00 for the 2014-2015 fiscal year; and,
WHEREAS, the clarifier located at the Waterworks West Bank A Plant in Luling that serves both the East and West Banks of St. Charles Parish is in need of refurbishment to ensure the high standard of water quality is maintained; and,
WHEREAS, sandblasting, minor repair, and repainting of all metal structures within the basin, refinishing the interior of the concrete basin, and replacement of any metal structures beyond repair will assure that the one million gallon per day clarifier continues to operate efficiently and allow the Parish to continue to provide premium water to the residents of St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, on March 16, 2015, the St. Charles Parish Council adopted Resolution No. 6145 in support of the FY 2014-2015 CWEF application for funding for said project; and,
WHEREAS, by way of a letter dated August 11, 2015, from Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, the Parish was informed that the Parish's FY 2014-2015 CWEF application was approved for funding; and,
WHEREAS, the State has prepared a Contract to provide funding for said project and it is the desire of the Parish Council to approve said Contract.
