ORDINANCE NO. _________

Title

An ordinance requesting that the Administration start the QBS process of selecting an engineering firm to obtain permits, design, plan, remove culverts, and install a trestle under the railroad tracks at Engineers Canal.

Body

WHEREAS,      the removal of the culverts and the installation of a trestle under the railroad tracks would allow rain water to flow freely to Engineers Canal Pump Station; and,

WHEREAS,      the existing culverts are in deplorable condition and restricting the water flow; and,

WHEREAS,      with the recent heavy rainfalls, water was not able to reach the station quickly and over 200 homes flooded in the Norco area; and,

WHEREAS,      as stipulated in St. Charles Parish Code of Ordinances Section 20-4 (a) no construction or repairs to any bridge or culvert over which railroad tracks are laid shall be performed prior the obtaining the approval of the Director of Public Works.

THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:

      SECTION I.      Requesting that the Administration start the QBS process of selecting an engineering firm to obtain permits, design, plan, remove culverts, and install a trestle under the railroad tracks at Engineers Canal.
