Proclamation: "Assist A Child...Help A Single Parent Day"

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, Assistance For Single Parents, a nonprofit organization, is sponsoring a School Uniform Drive in St. Charles Parish. They will be collecting new and "gently used" uniforms, shoes, belts, and backpacks from May 20 - June 20, 2015; and,
WHEREAS, on Saturday, July 11, 2015, from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, Assistance For Single Parents will distribute one brand new uniform and "gently used" uniforms to registered children; and,
WHEREAS, Assistance For Single Parents primary focus is the overall health and well-being of children. However, their programs are geared toward assisting and empowering working single parent families with support, services, and fellowship. Ultimately the single parent's struggles and challenges affect their children; and,
WHEREAS, Assistance For Single Parents invites all working single parents living in St. Charles Parish to register online at www.AssistanceForSingleParents.org. A separate email will be sent requesting school uniform sizes. The uniforms will be distributed on Saturday, July 11, 2015, to the first 150 children signed up.
NOW, THEREFORE, WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM SATURDAY, JULY 11, 2015, AS
"ASSIST A CHILD...HELP A SINGLE PARENT DAY"
IN ST. CHARLES PARISH AND ENCOURAGE ALL CITIZENS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SCHOOL UNIFORM DRIVE BY LOCATING A GREEN BOX PLACED THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY NOW THROUGH JUNE 20TH, AND DROP OFF NEW OR "GENTLY USED" UNIFORMS, SHOES, BELTS, AND BACKPACKS.
