IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Milton L. Cambre and his wife Kathleen Becnel Cambre, residents of Norco for nearly 60 years, are the parents of Carleen Cambre Manning, Kenneth Cambre, Susan Cambre Gauthier, wife of Kevin Gauthier, and David Cambre, husband of Angie Cambre; they are the proud grandparents of Melissa Frederick, Adrianne and Shelby Breaux, Laila, Mason and Hannah Cambre; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Cambre grew up in the town of Paulina on the banks of the Mississippi River in St. James Parish and upon graduating from Lutcher High School in 1953, began working at the Pan Am Refinery in Destrehan until he was drafted into the United States Army, serving two years in a helicopter unit in Fort Riley, Kansas; and,
WHEREAS, upon return from service, Mr. Cambre moved to his wife's hometown of Norco to begin working in the oil and chemical industry, retiring from Dupont in 1985; and,
WHEREAS, in 1988, Mr. Cambre offered himself for public service and was elected St. Charles Parish District 6 Constable, serving for 26 years until his retirement on December 31, 2014; and,
WHEREAS, as St. Charles Parish District 6 Constable, Mr. Cambre enjoyed working with the Justices of the Peace to carry out his duties in a professional manner and was awarded the honor of Constable of the Year for the State of Louisiana in 2011; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Cambre has been an active member of the community as the Chairman of the St. Charles Parish Coastal Zone Advisory Committee, member of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, a long time parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, and an environmental representative on the St. Charles Parish Local Emergency Planning Committee; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Cambre has appeared in numerous environmental documentaries, including a 1989 TBS and United Nations Population Fund production "Without Borders" which aired ...
