Title
A resolution in support of the St. Charles Parish Bike and Pedestrian Path; East Bank - Phase A.
Body
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council adopted Ordinance No. 97-10-8 on October 20, 1997 which provided for the design of a Bicycle Transportation Route on the Mississippi Levee in St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, based on said design an application was submitted by the South Central Planning and Development Commission, on behalf of St. Charles Parish, for the Bike and Pedestrian Path Phase A (East Bank); and,
WHEREAS, by letter dated April 5, 2000 to the South Central Planning and Development Commission, Mr. William T. Jack Jr., Special Programs Administrator for the Department of Transportation and Development, advised that the project had been accepted into the 2000 Enhancement Program in the amount of $383,000.00, assuming a 95% federal and 5% sponsor match arrangement; and,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Parish to support said project as the local sponsor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL do hereby certify full responsibility for the required local match (95% / 5% option), for managing and maintaining the project and any legal liability incurred as a result of the project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said local match shall not exceed $25,000.00.
