P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, Autism Spectrum Disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder that occurs in approximately 1 in every 44 children and youth in the United States; and,
WHEREAS, the United States has a diverse community of children, youth, and adults on the autism spectrum from all ethnic and social backgrounds; and,
WHEREAS, Autism Spectrum Disorder affects a person's relationships, communication, interests and behaviors; and,
WHEREAS, early intervention for your children on the autism spectrum may help them develop communication, social and other skills, resulting in more meaningful participation in their communities; and,
WHEREAS, children, youth, and adults on the autism spectrum and their families can benefit from community support inclusive practices, and, with this assistance, an increasing number of individuals on the autism spectrum are able to live and work independently; and,
WHEREAS, schools can also play an important role in raising awareness by providing activities that teach students about autism and spread understanding.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, WE THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF APRIL 2023 AS
"AUTISM AWARENESS & ACCEPTANCE MONTH IN ST. CHARLES PARISH"
AND PROCLAIM SUNDAY, APRIL 2, 2023
AS
"WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY"
WE URGE ALL CITIZENS IN ST. CHARLES PARISH TO ATTEND THE CHOSEN ONES FOUNDATION ANNUAL AUTISM AWARENESS & ACCEPTANCE BUBBLES & BALLOON BASH TO BE HELD THE LAST SUNDAY IN APRIL AT THE WEST BANK BRIDGE PARK IN LULING.
