PROCLAMATION
What weighs 22 million pounds, stands 403 feet tall, has 5,280 miles of cable, and is about to be conquered by anyone who chooses to accept the challenge?……….It's the Hale Boggs Bridge!
WHEREAS, on Saturday, April 3, 2004, Valero's United Way Bridge Run, sponsored by Valero St. Charles Refinery and others, will be held for the benefit of United Way of St. Charles; and,
WHEREAS, United Way of St. Charles provides funding to thirty-six agencies that provide a wide range of health and human services in St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, these services include promoting health, wellness and independence, strengthening the community and supporting families, assisting with basic and emergency needs, and helping kids succeed; and,
WHEREAS, United Way's value in the community goes far beyond dollars raised by building coalitions that produce collaborative and creative solutions to pressing community problems; and,
WHEREAS, the Parish President and the members of the Parish Council wish to join in and lend their support for this most worthy cause.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM SATURDAY, APRIL 3, 2004, AS
VALERO'S UNITED WAY BRIDGE RUN DAY
IN
ST. CHARLES PARISH
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT THE CITIZENS OF ST. CHARLES PARISH ARE HEREBY URGED TO ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE AND BE A PART OF THIS UNIQUE EVENT.
