Title
An ordinance to amend the St. Charles Parish Code of Ordinances of 1981, Article II. By refining the definition of abandoned, junked or wrecked vehicles.
Body
WHEREAS, the grammar of the existing ordinance leads to inconsistent interpretations; and,
WHEREAS, the vehicle licensing and registration requirements mandate insurance coverage; and,
WHEREAS, many residents may choose to park a vehicle rather than purchase insurance; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed ordinance change combines two criteria that will be used in determining a vehicles abandoned, junked or wrecked status; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council desires to clarify the ordinance.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the St. Charles Parish Code of Ordinances, Article II Chapter 16-11, Abandoned, Junked or Wrecked Vehicles is amended as follows:
As used in this article the term "abandoned, junked, wrecked or derelict automobile or motor vehicle" shall mean a vehicle which does not have a current vehicle registration and current inspection sticker, and either is not able to move under its own power or which has not been moved for sixty (60) days.
