IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Nancy Dowouis is a life-long resident of Des Allemands, Louisiana and has been married to her loving husband Roland Dowouis for 50 years. Together they have three children; Darren, husband of Rhonda Dowouis, Stewart, engaged to Dian Gillis, and Kimberly Dowouis Gemperli, wife of Manuel Gemperli and they are the proud grandparents to Alyssa and Jordan Dowouis; and,
WHEREAS, Nancy has worked for the St. Charles Parish School Board for 17 years from which she is now retired; and,
WHEREAS, Nancy stays active in the community; she is a member of St. Gertrude's Ladies Altar Society, St. Joseph's Altar volunteer, Catfish Festival volunteer for over 40 years, as well as a Second Harvest Food Bank volunteer; and,
WHEREAS, Nancy loves collecting angels and spending time with her family and six fur babies; and,
WHEREAS, on June 7, 2014, Nancy was crowned the 9th Louisiana Granny Catfish Queen at the annual Louisiana Catfish Festival Pageant held at the Father Mac Community Center at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
NANCY DOWOUIS
LOUISIANA GRANNY CATFISH QUEEN IX

created in 1807 from the county of the
"German Coast", a parish of

development, known for its
hospitality, rural living and sporting
