P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, last year, the Krewe of Lul parade was cancelled for the first time in the history of the parade which began in the late 70's; and,
WHEREAS, on Saturday, February 18, 2012, the Krewe of Lul will celebrate its Thirty-fifth Anniversary with the 2011 "Rained Out" King and Queen, Bill and Edie Sirmon and Grand Marshall, Glynn Boyd reigning for the 2012 Mardi Gras Season; and,
WHEREAS, in honor of the Thirty-fifth Anniversary, local artist Peyton Dufrene has designed a commemorative scroll which will be thrown from the floats participating in the parade this year; and,
WHEREAS, the scroll has a fleur de lis depicting the last names of all the Kings, Queens, and Grand Marshalls who have reigned in the Krewe of Lul parade. The background has the area of the parade route with some landmarks of Luling noted; and,
WHEREAS, the former Kings, Queens, and Grand Marshalls received an autographed and numbered scroll at a luncheon hosted by the Krewe of Lul Captains on February 7, 2012; and,
WHEREAS, the Krewe of Lul parade is traditionally enjoyed by thousands of citizens that line the parade route each year for a day of fellowship and festivity; and,
WHEREAS, this event is organized and directed by Ms. Wanda Candies, Mr. Jerry "Jay" Gomez, Jr., Mr. Russell Lauve, Mr. Charles Oubre, III, Ms. Debbie Dufresne Vial, and Mr. Randy Lauve six citizens who give of their time and talent to make this event possible; and,
WHEREAS, the residents of St. Charles Parish are truly grateful for their dedication and hard work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2012, AS
"KREWE OF LUL DAY"
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2012, IS HEREBY DECLARED A DAY OF FUN AND FESTIVITY IN ST. CHARLES PARISH.
