IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Isiah Franklin Sr., is a life-long resident of St. Charles Parish, born in Luling, Louisiana, on October 10, 1920, to the late Celestine Deadman and Marshall Franklin, Sr.; brother of Martha Gross, Matthew Franklin, and the late Marshall, Jr., Landry Fox, and Susan Davis; and,
WHEREAS, Isiah was married to the late Ruth Louise Thomas and together they raised five children: Isiah Jr., Larry, Kathy, Leroy, and Don. At age 83, he married Philomene Geason of Ama, and became stepfather to Lawrence Jr., Sharon, Wilma, Bonnie, Debra, Karen, and Fabian; and,
WHEREAS, Isiah is a Veteran of the U.S. Army, 24th Infantry Regiment and received the Army of Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal; and,
WHEREAS, Isiah worked in the Dairy Industry delivering milk and milk products for 34½ years earning him the nickname "The Milkman". After retiring from the milk business, he worked for St. Charles Parish Mosquito Control and later at Shell Chemical Company until retirement; and,
WHEREAS, Isiah is an active voter, keeps up with current events, has an active driver's license, loves to dress up in fine fashion, enjoys gardening, going to Walmart, and taking short walks, an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of St. Rose, a member of the American Legion Friloux-Robinson Post 509, Noble Grand of the Grand United Order of Odd Fellows #2842, and Household of Ruth #1346; and,
WHEREAS, lessons learned from Isiah are that endurance, long suffering, perseverance, and sound work ethics are important keys to sustain a good quality of life.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, hereby offers congratulations and recognition to
ISIAH FRANKLIN, SR.
