The Parish of St. Charles

IN   RECOGNITION

 

WHEREAS,                     Mr. Gilliam “Gil” Pierre, III, a resident of St. Charles Parish and the son of Gilliam Pierre Jr. and Anna Mae Davis.  He married wife Tracey Revader and was blessed with two children and is the proud grandfather of twelve grandchildren; and,

 

WHEREAS,                      at the age of twelve, “Gil” gave in to his natural talents and began music lessons at Werlein’s for Music. He went on to further his education in 1973 under the guidance of Ms. Elise Wilson, Professor Thomas Brown and Professor Harold Harry, learning both piano and the organ; and,

 

WHEREAS,                     “Gil” shared his extraordinary talents broadly across the River Parishes - blessing congregations as their full-time organist at New Union Baptist Church, Antioch Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church and currently, True Vine Missionary Baptist Church; and,

 

WHEREAS,                      in 1987, he founded the St. Charles Community Choir, which grew into a powerful choir of 40 plus members. “Gil” found his gift for composition when he wrote a song titled “Humble is the Way”. He later released his first full CD, entitled “Thank you”; and,

 

WHEREAS,                     “Gil” continues his impactful music ministry as the director of the People of Praise Singers. He has spent years giving music lessons, tutoring young musicians, voice training, and pouring his knowledge into the next generation.

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, WE THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby express our sincere thanks and appreciation to

 

MR. GILLIAM “GIL” PIERRE, III

created in 1807 from the county of the

“German Coast”, a parish of

unprecedented economic and social

development, known for its

hospitality, rural living and sporting

opportunities… with the added
