P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, since 1881, when Clara Barton founded the organization, people have turned to the AMERICAN RED CROSS for emergency services; and,
WHEREAS, the AMERICAN RED CROSS is chartered by Congress to provide special services to members of the U. S. Armed Forces and disaster victims; and,
WHEREAS, the AMERICAN RED CROSS is a humanitarian organization that helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies, large and small; and,
WHEREAS, programs of the AMERICAN RED CROSS are made possible by the voluntary services of thousands of individuals and the generous financial support of the American people; and,
WHEREAS, AMERICAN RED CROSS volunteers and staff assist our men and women in the military and their families in emergencies; and,
WHEREAS, the AMERICAN RED CROSS is at the scene of more than 40,000 disasters a year, from house fires to devastating floods, hurricanes and tornadoes; and,
WHEREAS, the AMERICAN RED CROSS provides other services such as teaching CPR, first aid, water safety, health & safety courses, and disaster preparedness education; and,
WHEREAS, the AMERICAN RED CROSS is the organization that translates your caring and concern into immediate action; and,
WHEREAS, the AMERICAN RED CROSS has nearly 120 years of world wide disaster experience; and,
WHEREAS, the AMERICAN RED CROSS and you, WE'LL BE THERE, TOGETHER, WHEN HELP CAN'T WAIT.
NOW, THEREFORE, WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF MARCH 2000 AS
